Glaucoma tube shunt (Ahmed valve) surgery

A glaucoma tube surgery is performed when the eye's natural drainage pathway can't be fixed. A glaucoma tube is placed under a thin tissue layer and held in place by stitches. A small portion of the tube is visible in the eye under a microscope, but most of the device stays hidden under your eyelid. Aqueous fluid now drains from the eye through the tube.
